Exploring Science Together

This past week, we were delighted to welcome so many Lower School parents to Lower School Science Morning in Perrine Commons. It was a joy to see families engaging in hands-on engineering challenges designed by Lower School Science teachers Colin Thom and Bri Duggan—the same types of critical thinking and problem solving challenges our students experience regularly in their science curriculum.
Throughout the morning, parents and children worked side-by-side, tackling creative problem-solving tasks that required collaboration, curiosity, and a bit of trial and error. Families got a firsthand look at the kind of active, inquiry-based learning that makes science at NCCS so dynamic and engaging. The event not only provided a window into the student experience but also reinforced the joy of learning through discovery—a core principle of our Lower School program. Seeing parents immerse themselves in the challenges alongside their children was a wonderful reminder that exploration, creativity, and a spirit of adventure are at the heart of all great learning experiences.
