Seventh Graders Bring LEGO Creations to Life with Stop Motion Animation

Seventh-grade students explored the principles of stop motion animation, employing LEGO elements to construct dynamic, frame-by-frame sequences. Utilizing precise frame sequencing, incremental motion adjustments, and lighting control, they discovered how subtle changes between frames generate the illusion of continuous movement.
This hands-on project introduced key technical aspects of animation, including frame rate manipulation, scene composition, and motion physics. Beyond technical execution, students honed problem-solving skills, spatial reasoning, and narrative development as they engineered and refined their animated LEGO scenes. The class, led by teacher Winter Quisquard, provided an engaging space for creativity and experimentation.
