Skyhawks Hang on to Win Rematch with Cougars

For the second straight Tuesday, FCDS defeated the NCCS White Cougars, this time 20-14. While last week was an offensive showcase, this week, it was the defenses that stepped up and impressed. The Cougars' zone defense tightened up, making throwing windows smaller, catches more difficult, and running lanes more narrow. Despite the loss, the coaches were thrilled with this development. Sammy Wagner stepped up in particular with a couple pass deflections, Hudson Sonesson and Major Hasbrouck came up huge with a couple of clutch fourth down flag pulls, and Miles Chandor snagged a key interception, all of which helped to keep FCDS from pulling away.

FCDS's defense was nothing short of excellent today, as they tallied up three interceptions of their own and really made the Cougars' passing game work for every completion they got. Townsend LeConey did toss a pair of touchdowns to James "Jimbo" Golden and Nathan "Young Moss" Roth, and slot receiver Devon Havens kept the chains moving all day with a handful of receptions, but it wasn't enough. On the final play of the game, FCDS intercepted NCCS's Hail Mary attempt and closed out a hard fought game.

Thanks again for coming out everybody. We will see you next week! Go Cougs!
