New Canaan Country School Community Gathers for Annual 5K Race & Fall Fest

More than 400 members of the New Canaan Country School community participated in the 6th annual Cougar 5K Run, held Oct. 29 on the school’s 85-acre campus. The community event was sponsored by the school’s Parents’ Association and involved students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents. The event also hosted a Cougar Junior Fun Run which included a 100-meter dash for children ages 3 through Grade 2. The school’s Cougar mascot and non-runners of all ages lined the course to offer encouragement, support and congratulations.
Those receiving recognition following the 2022 New Canaan Country School Cougar 5K Run included: Suzy (Gibbons) Owen '94, Eugene Bang ’92 (alumni); Head of School Aaron Cooper, Landscaper and Maintenance Assistant Marc Keneally, Kindergarten Apprentice Teacher Daniel Lepoutre, Horizons Development and Communications Manager Whitney Mallozzi, Middle School Science Teacher Lindsay Frey (faculty & staff); Rich Dell'Aquila, Lauren Greig, Nick Liveris, Christian Stein, Sarah Vandekerckhove (adult); Lucie Del Percio, Anna Grace Hudson, Cal Susanin, Teddy Lasko, Kai Dell'Aquila (Grade 3 and under); Evan Frey, William Tocks, Piper Owen, Emmie Del Percio, Jordan Rema (Grade 4); Evren Gokgol-Kline, Towsen LeConey, Archer MacLear, Kai Gokgol-Kline, Michael Faugno (Grade 5); Ellie Ryder, Cecelia Thompson, Ava Dell’Aquila, Dylan Berkeley, Annie Mallozzi (Grade 6); Marin Gokgol-Kline, Charlotte Parker, Charlotte Kelley, Caroline Irvin (Grade 7); and Camilla Calderwood (Grade 8).

Special recognition goes to Evren Gokgol-Kline who finish time of 23.35 minutes was the fastest of all students and earned him a fourteenth place, overall.

“The Cougar Run is a feel-good event for all ages and such a fantastic way to come together as a community,” said Eleanor Lasko who together with Erin Kanter, both of New Canaan, chaired the event. 

Fall Fest immediately followed featuring games and activities including: sack hop races, face painting, pumpkin decorating, music, snacks and a granola bar food truck. Parent volunteers Tatiana Mendoza and Johana Flores, both of Stamford, facilitated this fun and festive community event.
