Cougs Pull Away in Second Half to Defeat FCDS

How bout those JV Cougars?! Today, NCCS notched their second win in a row, defeating the FCDS Skyhawks. The boys have some real mojo building now!

Things weren't always so rosy for the Cougars, though. As the game began, it felt like there was a plastic lid on the FCDS basket. The starters were running the pick and roll effectively, but the open looks just weren't falling. Shot after shot was going up, and shot after shot bounced off the rim. At half-time, the score was only 7-6 NCCS.

After the break, the basketball gods relented, and our shots started to fall. The Cougs proceeded to get easier and easier looks at the basket as FCDS tired out, and the boys took advantage. Point guard Matt Visokey was a smooth operator of the fast break, dishing the ball at will to open teammates. Big man Hudson Sonesson led the way with 8 points, but also a career-high 17 rebounds. When the clock hit zero, NCCS secured their victory, 30-15.

And now, here are today's Plays of the Game.
5. Parker Griggs and Dylan Reid each banking home a three pointer!
4.
The incredible fast break started by Matt Visokey, who dished to Palmer Bowen, who made the final dish to Hudson Sonesson. The smoothest play of the day!
3. Harry Griggs steals the ball at half court, dribbles down the lane, but making sure to keep his eyes up, sees Hudson streaking down to the block. Perfect pass and the assist for another bucket!
2. Center Chase Bell using the backboard on not one, but two straight free throw makes. The bank is open, people!
1. Veteran player Stephen "Stevie" McGovern catching the ball on the baseline, pump faking his man into the air, and then dribbling in for an awesome layup.

Great job today everybody. Next Thursday, we travel to Ridgefield for a rematch with the Patriots at 3:45. See you then!
