Former Faculty & Staff Visit Campus

During a beautiful autumn day in October, nearly 30 former faculty and staff gathered on campus to reconnect with each other, visit classrooms and attend the weekly Wednesday community lunch with current faculty and staff, including former Head of School Nick Thacher who traveled from the West Coast to reunite with former colleagues.
Here is the latest news from some of our beloved formerly faculty and staff:

  • Lyn Chivvis ’60, former Director of Alumni Relations is still working as a massage therapist in her own business for over 20 years.
  • Amy Cholnoky, who formerly worked in the Advancement and Archives Departments splits her time between New Canaan and Big Sky, Montana, where she and her husband are very active in the Nature Conservancy.
  • Raphe Elkind, former Grade 5 Teacher and Coach can be seen periodically on campus substitute teaching. He is also working at Sasco River Center as a coach and tutor with current NCCS Trustee Dr. Chris Bogart.
  • John Hastings, former Grade 4 Teacher is also working at Sasco River Center as a Psychotherapy Intern.
  • Betsy Hulme, former Physical Education Teacher and Coach has been playing, teaching and loving Pickleball for many years before it became the latest fitness craze.
  • Emily Kelting, former Public Relations Coordinator continues to work at her successful non-profit “Skating for Everyone”.
  • Paul Mayo, former Director of Diversity and Upper School Life Skills Teacher left his home in Hampton, NH at 7:30 a.m. to attend this special event!
  • Tom Mlezcko, former Science Teacher and Coach who lives in Nantucket reports that his son Jason has taken over his fishing charter business.
  • Jean O’Dell, former Upper School Math Teacher and Advisor lives next door to one of her sons and spends much of her time with her grandchildren. 
  • Topsy Post ’66, former History Department Chair and Upper School English and History Teacher is moving to Maine to be closer to her grandchildren.
  • Dr. Jules Spotts, former School Psychologist who resides in New York City has remarried after the passing of his first wife, Bobbi Silver.
  • Marsha Whitman, former Music Teacher keeps busy with travel, grandchildren and enjoying their home in the Catskills when not in Norwalk.
