It was a hot one today - but luckily, the Cougars thrive in heat! With GFA in town, NCCS pulled out all the stops on offense and defense to pull out a 30-19 victory.
It was a perfect day on offense for the Cougars. Five possessions, and five touchdowns! Townsend LeConey was spinning the ball all over the field, keeping the ball safe and the chains moving. The bright, blinding sun was no match for Nathan Roth, who added another four touchdowns to his massive season-wide haul. Also, just about every player had at least once reception today. On a strange note, despite the massive offensive success, the Cougars went 0-5 on two point conversions. Football doesn't always make sense!
On defense, the Cougars picked up a couple of big stops in the first half, and these were ultimately the difference. Final score 30-19, NCCS on top.
Some random, "not so official, but seems about right superlatives" brought to you by Mr. Hogenkamp... -Speeding Ticket: Sammy Wagner hitting the jets on his run during the last possession. He was flying! -Flag Collector:Charlie Glover, who had four pulls on one possession alone. -Most Ridiculous Celebration: Hudson Sonesson after he hit the "strap" celebration when his mark dropped what should have been a first down catch.
Another fun game with a great group of teammates - see you next week!
