The JV Cougars had their work cut out for them today with GCDS coming to town, and they meant business right from the start. After three possessions, the Cougars were down 6-0, thanks to some hot shooting (which continued for most of the game) and a high-pressure half-court trap. However, the Cougars were able to make some adjustments to break the trap and stabilize things for a while, but during the middle of the second quarter, GCDS busted the game open, ringing up a 27-9 lead as the game went to half-time.
It was a physical game today for four quarters. There was certainly no shortage of loose balls, tieups, and bodies hitting the floor. On the offensive side of the ball, shout out to the new guy Charlie Smith! He led the way for the Cougars with five points, demonstrating good passing and some precise shooting. The Cougars never gave in, but GCDS slowly but surely expanded their lead throughout the second half until the final whistle blew. Score: GCDS 44 - NCCS 22.
Remember, no practice tomorrow (Weds, 1/14) as we have a field trip. See you on Thursday. We've got some rebounding work to do!
Next Game: Tuesday, 1/21 @ Greens Farms Academy (3:30 Tip)
