Friends Corps Kicks Off with Fun Fall Activities

Every year, students from New Canaan Country School and students from the Horizons Student Enrichment Program at NCCS join together for Friends Corps, an opportunity to create meaningful exchanges between these two groups of students which are both served by our community. This year’s Friends Corps kicked off on Oct. 25 when 80 students gathered for a fun fall Saturday.

Students were matched in groups of four, each of which had  a Horizons/NCCS eighth grade student team partnered with a Horizons/NCCS Lower School student team. Each buddy group was then charged with decorating two pumpkins and coming up with a story about their pumpkin characters. The day was filled with creative energy as the students exchanged ideas and got to know one another. No one pumpkin and no one story was a like! The goal of the day was to build community and introduce the buddies. These buddy groups will meet throughout the school year. Next up is “PJs and Pizza” on Nov. 12.
