Students Play "The Amazing Colonial Race (A Revolutionary Idea)"

To cap off their study of The Revolutionary War, seventh graders played a colonial version of “The Amazing Race,” the popular reality TV show where teams race around the world and take on mental and physical challenges.

Students partnered up and searched the school’s 75-acre campus for clues that led them to colonial-based tasks. They lugged water, gardened, shot pretend turkeys (with a slingshots and marshmallows), solved math problems without calculators and played popular colonial games. They also had to correctly answer questions based on their recent studies.

“It’s a fun culminating activity that makes the learning come alive,” said seventh grade teacher Sue Friborg. “We want the kids to get outside and enjoy this beautiful campus.”
